It really is a pity that the legendary “New Armenians” KVN team did not notice such a brilliant humorist as Nikol Pashinyan. Maybe the story would have unfolded quite differently, and the latter would now be working in some famous entertainment holding, instead of amusing the people with jokes of the “you joke – you laugh” variety, while being in the position of Prime Minister.

What is only worth his newly minted passage about his wish to join the European Union this year. The incumbent prime minister said this during a discussion at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit, which mildly amused the audience and himself.

According to the classic, “all this would be funny if it were not so sad”. Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Turkey, Ukraine and Georgia are vainly treading in the EU’s waiting room formally, while Armenia, with the easy hand of its leader, is de facto invited to join this queue even without having the candidacy. How honorable is informal candidacy anywhere is a rhetorical question.

It is sad when the country was and is being ruled by unaccomplished stand-up clowns, for whom the most serious business of running a state is just a comedy reality show.
