‘Ilham, where is your compatriot?’, – Trump threw to Aliyev at the Peace Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh. Like a diligent student, Nakhichevan’s mini-sultan pointed to his Ijevan viceroy. Isn’t this a trailer for how the so-called ‘Trump Route’ will be managed in Armenia? But, they say, Pashinyan has Trump’s contact on WhatsApp – so what if he has to introduce himself to the US President anew every time? The Turkish collaborationist officially became a compatriot of Aliyev and a representative of the ‘Western Azerbaijani community’, while Armenians remained headless on (yet) their own land. Like a faceless leader, like a faceless country. That is how states collapse. After all, a political entity is defined by its enemies; otherwise, paraphrasing the political philosopher Carl Schmitt, another people will define its compatriots.
One can argue as much as one likes about who has gained or lost more from the main reason for the Peace Summit – the first phase of reconciliation between Israel and Hamas. However, despite the generally acceptable outcome for Israel and the return of prisoners (one of the main goals of the operation in Gaza), some Israeli ministers promised to resign, if their Prime Minister arrived in Sharm el-Sheikh to sign a cease-fire. There was not a single deputy in the Armenian parliament though who would lay down the mandate in protest of the Turkish satrap’s participation in all kinds of meetings, where it is possible to once again renounce Armenia and its values, and preferably to consolidate the betrayal with a signature. And this is the dissatisfaction of members of the Israeli government, given that after many mistakes, the consequences of which have yet to be overcome, and with some not too painful compromises on the part of Israel, the surviving Hamas prisoners returned home. For a longer time, Armenia has been unable to return its prisoners from a state, with which it is now supposedly ‘at peace’.
It is known that a winner exists only because there is a loser. The Turkish satrap officially accepted this status from the mouth of the president of the United States of America – still the world’s top policeman. From now on, Armenia is just an appendage to the winner, and this is not surprising. The pseudo-state of Azerbaijan is based on hatred towards Armenia and everything Armenian, as well as the agony of the defeat inflicted on it by the Armenian world. Today, in search of a new meaning for its existence and a guaranteed place under a new sun in a changing world order, Azerbaijan is solving the long-term task of destroying Armenia as a subject of international relations.
